As a Product Designer and teacher at Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal, I just accomplished my Master Degree on Product Design, with the subject “Traditional Objects Transposition for Contemporaneity”, concerning identity, traditional culture, popular culture, consumption and meaning, studying opportunities for local cultural contributes into globalization, through ethnographic research.
I feel now it’s the time for me to go more deeper on my own criative process, looking forward to find more consistent and stronger project skills to re-outline my own pursuit on product design practice.
It might be a pursuit closest to an artist working on his own studio, the one I have in mind, to develop proposals on my own, looking forward to find throught my own work interesting and sustainable opportunities to work with industry, crafts people, or design curators.
I believe that designers are endowed with the best sensibilities to sound out new concepts and contemporary needs in their cultural context, localy and abroad, as they should be the ones who unleash the material culture criative and productive process.
Far from clients solicitation, it is now important, that shall be the designers the ones who propose new concepts and contextualized projects on by their own iniciative, and to develop a vision, in the vast sense of the word, and opportunities, to convice people and producers of the pertinence and viability of their work.
